Turkey's in the Oven

We are trying the Delta Roasted Turkey from Southern Living this year. I'm placing my trust in the "Million Dollar Gravy."

I remember hearing Brian McLaren speak about the situation in Darfur several summers ago on the National Mall about the whole "God Bless America" sentiment. His basic point was that we (in America) are more than blessed especially compared to the rest of the world and it was offensive to hear fabulously blessed people seemingly chant for more.

As we prepare a feast at our house that would be a once in a lifetime banquet lifetime for most of the world, I'm thinking about how the world has changed even for my blessed neighbors. Every Sunday - in the new personal info tear-offs in the worship bulletin - people are sharing confidential prayer requests about parents, spouses, neighbors who have lost their jobs. A young man expecting twins with his wife in a few months. A dad who wonders who will hire him at 59. I am blessed to be working, and especially to be working at a calling I love.

So, even if the gravy is not worth a million bucks today, it won't really matter. We have more than a million in blessings. Sappy but true. Happy Thanksgiving.

A very good point, Jan! We have ridiculous riches compared to most of the world.

Also, I was going to say that goooooood girl is a bot, but I'm not sure how they got past the word verification...interesting.
