Laboring This Weekend

What I really want to talk about is how much I like Rachel Maddow. But for the next four weeks, I need to write this book they're expecting soon and so expect some very short posts. Maybe they'll consist of only a few words:

Membership. Ugh.
Conversation over Conversion?
Sabbath Hunger.

And what was with the Brooks and Dunn after the Obama speech last night?

Have a great weekend everyone.

Yeah, I could not figure out the B&D song, except that it tells a story about two sons where one will end up in jail and "the other will be president" ...."Only in America"

Still a bit weird.

Day Off update:

1) Sarah Palin?

2) An elder just told one of our staffers that -- after a discussion at our last session meeting about who can be called "a minister" -- he's not a minister anymore. So my Day Off has taken a bit of a turn.

Amen on the Brooks and Dunn. It was oddly discordant, and a poor choice.

Jan, I commented on Miss Alaska's hair per your request. Ever at your service, darlin'

I loved the Brooks and Dunn song and found it very appropriate, but then I'm one of those rare liberal good-ol' boys who loves country music. Rednecks vote too.

Watching the special Friday Night Daily Show. Turns out that "Only in America" was the song played after W accepted the nomination...

robmonroe - exactly. It was a perfect ending to the week - showing that Democrats love our country too and you cannot de facto appropriate entire genres like country music (where the listeners are pretty split between Ds and Rs) for your party's apparatus. And for political junkies, taking from W was pitch perfect pure political theater.
