Last winter, I had an ACL replacement - went home the same day.
Recently had a red blotch on my shin and was granted three nights in a private hospital suite replete with room service and soothing intravenous drugs.
Everybody is afraid of MRSA and rightly so.
But I'm home today. Gave my solemn vow that I'll spend the next several days off my feet, including the 3rd Sunday in Advent. Amazingly, this works out just fine because the choir is slated to sing the sermon this week. It's a blessing to know that things don't fall apart without the pastor around - even during Advent.
And now I rest.
"Elevation is your new best friend," says Dr. W.
But not my only friend. Thanks to you for the good wishes and prayers.

Woot! I was ready to call a mutual friend tomorrow, since there had been no news here. Very scary, yes. But I'm glad you're home, and that things are looking up. :)
Lol... I forgot, this isn't an anonymous blog... Sharon -- I was going to call Sharon. :)
Yikes! So scary. You're the first person I "know" who's had this. Very thankful you're on the mend. Take good care of yourself.
it was MRSA? wow. glad your home and that all goes on o.k. allowing you to take the rest you need.
I've had 3 or 4 MRSA infections in the past 3 years. To me, it really is no big deal. But then, I've been lucky that mine have remained skin infections, and a double cocktail of antibiotics could handle them. It was touch-and-go on one of them, though, when I let it go too long because I didn't have insurance.
Glad you're home and feeling better.
Yay you're home and resting!! Great news.
That picture makes the bacteria look so pretty. But then I've seen pictures of Ebola and they look frighteningly pretty too.
How cool the choir singing the sermon! I wish I could hear that.
Take care and keep on mending.
Jan ... I pray God continues to bring you healing and rest. I think it's the mark of a good pastor ... that the church can function without you for a while.
Jan - so glad that you are feeling better and on the mend. Though I only 'know' you through this blog, your daily writing has become an important part of my life. God working through your insights and observations provides me with vital information and encouragement, and often stimulates me to broader spiritual and professional thoughts. I missed you!
Glad that you are resting and able to let go of Sunday...
Rest well.
elevate. elevate.
love and continuing prayers from the Muffin Man and his lovely wife.
